First Donations are Logged in School Referendum Campaign
Generous donations have been made by members in the local community to support the Strengthen Our Schools Campaign. The Hillsborough County School District recently released a list of projects to be completed if the referendum passes in November. Proposed projects include: air conditioning repairs, roofing repairs, classroom renovations, and increased security measures.
Strengthen Our Schools, the political committee that is promoting the half-cent sales tax to benefit the Hillsborough County Public Schools, reported its first $150,600 in contributions this week.
The biggest checks, each for $75,000, came from the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association and from business executive John Sykes.
